Bacteria and antibiotic resistance detection in fractures of wild birds from wildlife rehabilitation centres in Spain

چکیده
Anatomic adaptations make birds more prone to open fractures with exposed bone parts losing vascularization. As a result of this exposure, are colonized by different microorganisms, including types bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic, causing osteomyelitis in many cases. For reason, antibiotic treatment is common. However, carrying out without previous antibiogram may contribute increased resistance against antibiotics, especially migratory wild birds. In paper, bacterial counts regarding fracture type, identification have been analysed from wildlife rehabilitation centres Spain. The results obtained showed that had higher (CFU/mL) than closed ones. Bacteria family Enterobacteriaceae, identified were Escherichia spp., Enterobacter Shigella Hafnia alvei, Proteus mirabilis, Leclercia adecarboxylata Pantoea agglomerans. Other bacteria present birds’ Aeromonas Enterococcus spp. Bacillus wiedmannii Staphylococcus sciuri. All species found presented at least one the antibiotics used. Wild can be implicated introduction, maintenance global spreading resistant represent an emerging public health concern. Results paper support idea it necessary take fact into account before administration animals, since could increase number antibiotics.

Antibiotic resistance in wild birds
Wild birds have been postulated as sentinels, reservoirs, and potential spreaders of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria have been isolated from a multitude of wild bird species. Several studies strongly indicate transmission of resistant bacteria from human rest products to wild birds. There is evidence suggesting that wild birds can spread resistant bacteria through migration...

Introduction: Dental caries is a significant public health problem which destroys the calcified tissues of the teeth. The frequency of lactobacilli in dental caries is usually high. The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of these bacteria in dental caries and to identify the antibiotic resistance patterns of them. Methods: Specimens from dental plaque were collected from 30 p...

15 صفحه اولEndoparasites of Wild Mammals Sheltered in Wildlife Hospitals and Rehabilitation Centres in Greece
Wildlife parasitic diseases represent an important field of investigation as they may have a significant impact on wild animals' health and fitness, and may also have zoonotic implications. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of endoparasites in wild mammals admitted to wildlife hospitals and rehabilitation centres in Greece. Sixty-five animals belonging to 17 species and originated ...
